Tapes in the attic #2

As a direct followup to yesterday's blog on old tapes the next contender is "Synchronicity" from british band The Police. If I am not mistaken, this very good Police album (note to myself: none of The Police albums is crappy) was initially released in 1982 or 1983. Some of you were sure not born yet but you should definitely lend an ear to this album. 

Listen to this marvellous song entitled: "Tea in the Sahara". If this song does not fly you up to the ceilling in relaxation then I don't know shit about music...

Tone dead

This blog is a tribute to a mastodon/Isislike french band that I saw live recently. I really enjoyed the show they gave in a crappy bar in my hometown. Yet, halfway through the show someone told me this was their last performance because they were going to split right after the show. When I heard that, I took my camera out of my backpack and I taped one of their songs.

Tapes in the attic #1

I like to snoop around and dig in the crates when the doors of an old uninhabited attic open up. I especially like old cassettes because they represent ancient soulful artefacts coming from a not-so-far era. At the time music was all about vinyls, tapes, plastic and sometimes wavering distorted sounds of sunburnt tapes... Even if I can't listen to them tapes anymore coz time did its part in fucking up these songs beyond any repair, I still enjoy opening these plastic cases and read old smelly covers...

Psychedelic trip on the back of a water snake called Delta...

This video is basically made out of different personal videos of the Romanian delta. I browsed through my collection and transposed these videos on Daad's song: "Ride the bullet" (www.myspace.com/daadband). I pretty much like it. It reminds me both of "Apocalyspe Now" and "2001: a Space Odyssee". This area is really a wonderful and almost untouched wild zone were you get to meet strange birds but also flashy-colored mosquitos.
